About MPPAIncorporated in 1967, the Maine Pulp & Paper Association (MPPA) represents the interests of the pulp and paper industry before the Maine State Legislature, state regulatory agencies and federal agencies. The Association’s mission is to earn public support and promote sound policy so that the long term viability and success of the industry in Maine is achieved in a global economy. The Maine Pulp & Paper Association lobbies on a variety of issues of interest to the paper industry, including environmental, taxation, labor, utilities and forestry. The Maine Pulp and Paper Association also assumes a leading role in working with other trade associations and maintaining a cooperative working relationship with state policy makers and state government. In addition to lobbying activities, MPPA has helped build a more favorable image of the industry through promotional materials, media campaigns, and informational meetings. The Association hosts annual breakfasts and dinners for legislators and senior policy officials to explain issues of importance. The Association cohosts “Paper Days in Maine” an annual symposium on the status of Maine’s forest products industry. MPPA’s membership includes major pulp and paper companies in Maine. MPPA is comprised of seven members: Domtar Industries Inc., Fraser Papers ltd., Verso Paper, Katahdin Paper Co. LLC, Madison Paper Industries, Sappi Fine Paper North America and Wausau Paper.
