Associate Members

Associate members advance the mission of the MPPA by broadening the base of support for initiatives to improve Maine's business climate, and by offering guidance on ways to accomplish this goal.

MPPA associate members participate as non-voting members of the Board of Directors. They also may participate on MPPA committees established to address certain topics of interest including the Environmental, Human Resources, Fiber Supply, Energy, Taxation, Transportation and Public Relations Committees.

The full Board of Directors, made up of regular and associate members, meets twice per year.

Bercen develops, manufactures and sells specialty chemicals for the paper and paper board industries, and specializes in additives for coated paper and board manufacturers. Insolubilizers, lubricants and surface sizes help to give gloss, water resistance, smoothness and improved printing characteristics to the paper surface. Bercen’s products also assist with the formation of the paper web itself with products such as internal sizes, polymers and other specialty additives. The majority of Bercen’s products are used in coated and uncoated papers for the publication and graphic arts industry ending up in magazines, brochures, catalogues, copier papers and other printed media.
