Wausau Paper
Wausau Paper is a leading producer of specialty paper products with over 3000 employees in 11 different locations. The company was formed in December 1997 with the merger of Mosinee Paper Corporation and Wausau Paper Mills Company. The combined companies have a history of providing the highest level of quality products and service to our customers.
Nestled in the western Maine mountains, the Otis mill has a rich history of papermaking spanning over 100 years of operation. In 1896 the Otis Falls Paper Company was noted as the largest newsprint mill in the U.S.. In 1898 the mill became one of the founding mills of International Paper. In 1978 the mill was acquired by James River Corporation. Over the past 100 years the mill has seen significant changes in product lines and market focus. The shift from commodity products to specialty products and niche markets has allowed this small Maine mill to survive in an intensely competitive environment. The Otis mill is recognized as a leading producer of specialty products for the pressure sensitive industry. The mill has a fundamental belief in employee involvement and participation, a focus on quality and customer service, and a commitment to product development. The mill is committed to remaining responsible to the environment and surrounding community and will follow the same principals that have been the cornerstone of our papermaking tradition. The Otis mill is an ISO 9002 certified manufacturing facility. The mill employs nearly 280 people and produces 70,000 tons of specialty papers over 2 paper machines. The mill produces a wide variety of products including release base and label facing papers, Masking Tape Base, ink jet and electrographic papers for the imaging market, carbonless papers, and thermal transfer papers. |
